I am a Registered/Senior Accredited MBACP Counsellor/Psychotherapist and have over 20 years experience as a professional in the mental health field. I trained in the integrative/humanistic/psychodynamic approaches including CBT. I keep my skills up to date with regular training and continued professional development.

I have worked in a variety of settings including Healthcare (NHS, CAMHS), Education (15 years as a Counsellor in schools & colleges), and within large corporations. I am a Supervisor for counsellors who work in schools for the Charity, The Valley Trust.
I worked for 12 years for the Youth Service where I provided emotional and practical support to young people and their families, many from disadvantaged and chaotic backgrounds and with very complex problems.
I provide Critical Incident Stress Management support to staff in organizations where there has been a traumatic event. This can be anything from organizational change (restructuring, redundancies), to an accident, personal attack, armed robbery, sudden death or suicide, some of which may hit the news headlines/media. For example, I provided support to the police and witnesses involved in the two London bridge terrorist attacks. I gave prolonged support to the council staff, housing officers and social workers helping the victims of the Grenfell disaster.
I use evidence-based psychological treatments applying the principles of psychological first aid, for example, by helping to build team resilience and educating staff in trauma management toolkits, lifestyle changes and follow up self care. I teach mindfulness and provide coaching and guidance/advice for managers in supporting their staff.
